BROOMFIELD, Colo.—Two OEF Research staff will contribute to a weeklong event in Phnom Penh on combating genocide internationally. Dr. Curtis Bell, research associate, will participate in a discussion on Hate Speech and the Global Peace Index and Alexandra Amling, researcher, will speak on Women, Peace and Security in the Context of Genocide Prevention. The panels are part of a conference held to coincide with Cambodian Victory Over Genocide Day and the United Nation’s International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Amling formerly worked in Cambodia as a researcher and gender consultant and now leads research projects regarding the Women, Peace and Security agenda at OEF Research. She will discuss the role of women in genocide perpetration and prevention with other experts on Wednesday, Jan. 25.
Bell, who specializes in research on armed conflict and political development, and is a forecasting expert, will join the panel on Hate Speech and the Global Peace Index on Thursday, Jan. 26.
The conference is hosted by Heinrich Böll Stiftung, a political foundation affiliated with the German Green Party which seeks to advance democracy and human rights, protect the environment and climate, and promote the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
