Dr. Conor Seyle presented a talk on “Public health approaches to mass traumatic events” to an audience of Ukrainian government emergency response workers, members of the military, and psychologists at a conference on “practical issues of psychosocial work with aftermath of traumatic events” in Odessa Ukraine on 25 May. Dr. Seyle spoke via Skype and through a translator, and presented his experiences working in the US on supporting recovery following natural disasters and mass traumatic events. Systems to support resilience and recovery can be important tools for restoring societies to healthy functioning after conflict and disaster, and can contribute to long-term stability.
